Integrated Children's Centre (ICC) *
The ICC based within the New Tredegar new Community School Complex
The dream to develop an Integrated Children's Centre (ICC)
was boosted by a successful New Opportunities Fund grant to the tune of
£542 000 and has four core elements:
1. Early Years Education
2. Childcare
3. Family Services
4. Open Access Play
The funding helped to pay for the building and equipping of the early
years unit at the school and a pioneering playground space for the under
5's.
With the registration of The Children's Space on 10th September and the
open day on 6th September 2004 the childcare is now fully operational.
There has been a tremendous response and the uptake of places has been
phenomenal with some parts of the childcare already being fully booked.
The
Children's Space currently offers:
" Breakfast and After School Clubs for 4-11 year olds Monday to Friday
" Wraparound for Nursery children aged 3 years upwards 12-3:30pm
Monday to Friday
" Playgroup for 2½ year olds up on Tuesday and Thursday mornings
The
Parent and Toddler Link-Up Group operate on Monday and Wednesday mornings
NCMA are organising for Registered Childminders to have opportunities
on Friday mornings after half term.
Language and Play, Creative Play and Bookstart are going to be running
a Come and Play programme after half term and publicising it at our Launch
on 29th October.
There has been much hard work on the part of everyone involved, and this is reflected in the wonderful environment for adults to all be proud of and the children to enjoy immensely. The feedback has been extremely positive from parents, children, staff and partners, along the lines of "what a wonderful place".
